The Best Motorcycle Routes in the Pyrenees

The Pyrenees, stretching between France and Spain, are a true paradise for motorcyclists. With winding mountain passes, breathtaking views, and quiet B-roads, this is the ultimate destination for a motorcycle trip. Below are the best routes you definitely shouldn’t miss.

1. Col du Tourmalet (2115m)
One of the most famous mountain passes in the Pyrenees, renowned for the Tour de France. The route offers challenging hairpin bends and a panoramic view of the mountainous landscape. Start in Luz-Saint-Sauveur and follow the D918 upwards.

**Tip:** Ride early in the morning to avoid crowds and fully enjoy the surroundings.

2. Col d’Aubisque (1709m)
A spectacular route that takes you through green valleys and steep rock walls. Begin in Laruns and follow the D918, which eventually leads you to Col du Soulor.

Why this route? The contrast between dense forests and open mountain landscapes makes this one of the most beautiful passes in the region.

3. N260 - The Spanish Pyrenees
This route runs along the southern side of the Pyrenees, offering a mix of good asphalt, long bends, and a mild climate. The N260 between Ripoll and Jaca is a highlight for any motorcyclist.

**Advantage:** Less traffic than the French side and a smoother road surface.

4. Col de Peyresourde (1569m)
One of the smoother mountain passes, ideal for a relaxing ride. This route connects Luchon with Arreau and offers stunning views without extremely sharp bends.

**Recommendation:** Stop at the pancake stand at the top for a delicious break!

5. Andorra via the CG2
If you enjoy a mix of rugged nature and tax-free shopping, a ride through Andorra is a great addition. The CG2 takes you through impressive mountain passes and eventually brings you to the capital, Andorra la Vella.

**Note:** In summer, it can be busier with tourist traffic.

Best Time to Ride
The best months to explore the Pyrenees by motorcycle are from June to September. Outside this period, some passes may be closed due to snow.

 Conclusion
Whether you love technical hairpin bends or long, flowing curves, the Pyrenees offer a perfect route for every type of motorcyclist. Plan your trip well, enjoy the views, and experience the freedom of riding in one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Europe!
